HACKNEY AGREES TERMS

Posted on: Mon 26 Jan 2009

24-year-old winger Simon Hackney has today agreed personal terms with Colchester United.

Hackney, who joined United from Woodley Sports in 2005, was the subject of a six-figure bid on Friday and has rubber stamped the move following weekend talks at the Weston Community Homes Stadium.

Hackney made over 100 appearances and scored 17 goals during his four-year stay with the Cumbrians, including 25 appearances and one goal in this campaign.

The terms of the transfer stipulate that he will not be allowed to feature in the League One game at Brunton Park this weekend.

Greg Abbott said: "As we said on Saturday, the bid came in for Simon and we then allowed him to talk to the club concerned.

"He has agreed terms with them, so we wish him all the very best as he moves on."
