Carlisle United can today confirm that a six-figure bid has been tendered for 24-year-old attacking midfielder Simon Hackney, and the player will now be allowed to talk to the bidding club.

Hackney, who joined United from Woodley Sports in 2005, has been the subject of interest throughout the transfer window with the Cumbrians already turning two bids down for the services of the nippy wide man.

Hackney has made over 100 league appearance for United in his four-year stay and scored 17 goals, including some spectacular long range efforts.
