The word 'frustrating' doesn't go even half way to describing this season for Chris Lumsdon as United's influential midfielder battled his way back to full fitness following a debilitating back injury, only to subsequently twist his ankle during the Reserve win over Accrington Stanley on Monday.
Greg Abbott explained: "People saw that Lummy was upset on Monday, because he has put so much work in to getting back to match fitness.
"He came on for us on Saturday, and he was looking to kick on from that with 90 minutes in the Reserves. Unfortunately he picked up the ankle injury, and it is still far too early for us to say what has or hasn't happened in there. We have to wait for the swelling to go down, then we can get it looked at properly."
"Obviously we all hope that it is just a tweak and that he will be back very quickly, but we have to wait for the full assessment before we can say anything concrete."
