Carlisle United have announced major reductions in admission prices for Wednesday night's FA Cup second round tie against Crewe Alexandra at Brunton Park (kick off 7.45pm).

Adults will pay only £10 to stand and just £12 for a seat, which means savings of up to £8 per person on normal match day ticket prices.

As usual, admission for under-sevens is free and there are other money-saving concessions for supporters young and old.

United's managing director John Nixon said: "It has been a long battle for us to get through to the second round, not least because of the game at Grays that was abandoned because of floodlight failure.

"It has left us slightly behind the FA Cup competition's schedule and meant that we have only got a few days to get everything together for the second round tie we're hosting against Crewe this Wednesday night.

"We also know money is really tight for a lot of our supporters at this time of year, especially at short notice, so we have decided to cut prices for the Crewe tie by a considerable amount in the hope that it will enable more fans to come along and hopefully cheer us on into the third round. There is absolutely no doubt that our fans can play a significant role in lifting the team to victory on the night.

"It would have been great if the winners of Wednesday night's tie had been paired with a Premier League giant like Manchester United, be it home or away, instead of a trip to Millwall but whether it is us or Crewe who go through, the victorious team will have a decent chance of reaching the fourth round - and the last 32 of the FA Cup. That is a major incentive for everyone at Carlisle United, along with all the financial rewards it would bring."
