23-year-old defender Josh Gowling has joined Hereford on-loan until 3 January 2009. 

Gowling signed for United from Bournemouth last summer having spent three seasons at the Fitness First Stadium.

The Coventry-born centre-back started his football life as a trainee with West Brom before signing for Danish outfit Herfolge Bk in 2004.

He returned to England to join the Cherries prior to making the move up to Carlisle in July this year.

Greg Abbott said: "Again, this will give the player the opportunity to get some regular first team football under his belt.

"That wasn't quite happening for Josh here with us at the moment, so this move will provide that opening for him."
