RESERVE GAME POSTPONED
The Reserve away trip to Accrington Stanley scheduled for this Wednesday has been postponed due to first team commitments.
John Ward explained: "We had to cancel this one because of the trip to London on Tuesday night. We are taking a large squad, as we are allowed seven substitutes on the bench, and we would not expect to be back in Carlisle until around 4am on Wednesday morning. With that in mind we took the decision to speak to Accrington and request that the fixture should be rearranged."
New fixture details will be released as soon as they are confirmed.
In the mean time United can confirm that the Reserve side will participate in the Central League Cup competition this season.
The Cumbrians have been drawn in a group with Sheffield United, Newcastle United, Sunderland and Hartlepool United.
The first fixture of the competition, to be played on Wednesday 3 September (kick off time tbc) sees the United Reserve side travel across to Billingham Town to face Hartlepool United.
Eric Kinder told us: "We play each of the teams in our group once, with three of the games away from home. The Newcastle United game will be here at Brunton Park, and we are waiting for confirmation that it will be played week commencing 15 September. It should give us some healthy competition against some very good players, and it will give our own players a series of games that should produce some very good football."
