Carlisle United are delighted to announce that the Matchday Programme for the 2007/08 season has picked up two more awards, this time from the Northern Programme Club.

The Magazine, already voted as Most Improved overall by the industry watchdog Programme Monthly, has been handed two further awards in the end of season appraisals that were held recently by the Northern based collectors guild.

Secretary of the Northern Programme Club, Mr J Mitton, said: "We would like to congratulate Carlisle United for picking up the League One Programme of the Year award and, in addition, the Most Improved Programme award. Certificates to mark this achievement will be sent to the club in due course."

Media Officer Andy Hall explained: "We're obviously delighted to hear this news, as there is a heck of a lot of work that goes in to each publication that we produce. To finish second in the Best Programme awards nationally, and to win the Most Improved category, was a significant achievement for us last season, so to find out that we have now added two more awards to that has made us all feel extremely proud of our efforts."

He added: "I would like to thank all of our contributors, both at the club and further afield, as it is they who have helped us to take it on to the next level. The feedback that we are already receiving for this season's Programme has been very positive indeed, and hopefully we will continue to improve it as much as we can. It has not escaped our attention that we are in the top three penetration rates for Programme sales per average crowds, and when you consider that we are up against clubs like Spurs, West Ham, Portsmouth, Celtic and Rangers when that is calculated, then we had guessed that we might well be heading in the right direction with what we are trying to do."

"We have held the price at £3 for this season," he added, "but we think that we are still providing excellent value for money. Our readers told us that they preferred the glossy cover, so we have stuck with that, and I think we have also freshened things up content wise with the addition of some excellent new feature writers, as well as adding a fresh angle on some of the old favourites. Fingers crossed, we may well find ourselves in the awards reckoning again this time next year."
