Carlisle United FC is today delighted to announce that its new owners are David Allen, Andrew Jenkins, John Nixon and Steven Pattison.
The four Cumbrian businessmen were already directors at Brunton Park and they have now jointly acquired all 100 shares that previous owner Fred Story had in CUFC Holdings, which owns 93 per cent of the club's total shares.
The remaining 34 shares in CUFC Holdings remain in the hands of the Carlisle United Trust, which will continue to be represented on the club's board of directors by Norman Steele.
The new owners paid an undisclosed sum for Mr Story's controlling-interest shares after he decided to stand down after four years at the helm. Mr Story will remain a major sponsor of Carlisle United but is no longer a director.
The takeover will see each of the new owners work in partnership but with specific responsibilities.
+ David Allen becomes chief executive and finance director, concentrating on the club's business, commercial, sponsorship and overall finances.
+ Steven Pattison becomes football director, with special responsibility for the club's youth development and School of Excellence, working with Eric Kinder and David Wilkes.
+ Andrew Jenkins remains chairman, dealing with Football League matters and using his contacts from nearly 50 years as a director at the club.
+ John Nixon remains managing director, with responsibility for the club's day-to-day administration, including commercial and sponsorship issues.
Mr Allen said: "We are all extremely honoured to become the new owners of Carlisle United. All four of us are proud Cumbrians and long-term Carlisle United supporters and together we firmly believe that we can take the club forward to achieve its next goal of bringing Championship football to our home county for the first time for more than 20 years and to sustain that place in the second tier of English soccer.
"We would like to thank Fred Story for all he has done for the club over the last four years. Now it is our turn to play the lead role in trying to bring more success to Carlisle United.
"We will not only bring continuity to Carlisle United, which had paid a heavy price for the instability of previous regimes prior to Fred's takeover, but we also have a genuine local passion to fulfil clearly defined ambitions for the club. We believe the current infrastructure at Brunton Park, both on and off the pitch, gives us the platform from which to go on and achieve those goals. However, money will be spent to bring in new players to help achieve our objectives for the club and all Blues fans."
Besides the four new owners and the trust's representative, the new board will be completed by Philip Day, owner and chief executive of Edinburgh Woollen Mills, Lord Clark of Windermere and Dick Young. All three were already directors, Mr Day having joined before the end of last season.
