29-year-old Workington-born midfielder Scott Dobie makes a return to the club where he started his career today as he signs a two and a half year deal that keeps him at Brunton Park until the summer of 2010.
Dobie, who has 6 full Scottish International caps to his name, made over 150 appearances for United during his first spell, and became part of Cumbrian folklore on 8 May 1999 when he rose to head a Graham Anthony corner towards the roof of the Plymouth net. The keeper parried it, of course, but only as far as a certain Mr Jimmy Glass ... and the rest, as they say, is history.
Dobie moved to the Hawthorns in July 2001 for an initial fee of £150,000 and, just over three years later, joined Millwall for £500,000. A quick move to Nottingham Forest followed in February 2005, this time for £525,000, and he returns to his Cumbrian home this afternoon for an undisclosed fee.
Please note - Scott Dobie arrives at Brunton Park this afternoon, for a final medical, and the deal should be finalised by 5pm. He will be available for selection, if required, on Friday night.
Full reaction later today.
