The teams:
United: Howarth, Arnison, Livesey, Kirkup, Aranalde, Lumsdon, Bridge-Wilkinson, Joyce, McDermott, Graham, Carlton. Subs - Bradley, Murphy, Gall, Thirlwell, Smith, Hackney, Dalton. (All subs except Bradley came on at the 65 minute mark).

Half time: Morecambe 0 - 1 United
77 mins - David McNiven pounces on a moment of indecision in the United defence and races clear, calmly chipping the ball over Howarth to find the back of the net.
80 mins - A short corner routine gives Hackney the chance to deliver a telling cross, and Danny Carlton puts his side back in front with an unstoppable header.
United Boss Neil McDonald said: "This was an excellent work out. We've played a team who have come up in to the Football League for the first time, and they've tried to play football, which is good, and it was a fantastic surface to play on. We've got some players through 90 minutes and some through to 60 minutes, when we changed the team round, so it's all excellent as part of the progression process. There were some good positives, two good goals, but obviously we have plenty to work on yet. We have plenty of time to do that before the Walsall game."
"We can't read anything in to players getting 90 minutes," he added. "We'll probably switch things round on Saturday, with the game against Newcastle. I'm just trying to build it up, with the training that we're doing. We all trained this morning, which was a hard session, and they've had the game tonight, so they are coming on, working very well and I'm very pleased. Simon Hackney was limping at one point, but I think he just had a knock on his calf and he ran it off. He's fine, which is good news."
