Carlisle United travelled to the Valley with an unchanged starting line up with Ben Mckenna, Paddy Madden and Chris Chantler called up to the bench as Craig Curran missed out on the journey with a knock to his knee.

Hesitation at the back from Cort caused an early flutter as Liam Noble slid in to put Sullivan under pressure, but the keeper did well to clear his lines and send the ball long.

A deep free kick from Berrett caught the home side on their heels and Murphy stole a yard to guide it back into the middle. It had to be put behind by a defender as McGovern lurked.

It was a good start for the United and Noble spread the play to stretch the back line as the yellow shirts pushed forward. The ball eventually fell for Miller and his hammered volley was parried away by Sullivan.

Charlton finally got forward on 20 minutes and a high, looping free kick found Morrison on the edge of the six yard box. He flung a boot at it but he couldn't keep it down and it spun over the bar.

Carlisle went straight for the jugular as they broke from the back and a touch from Berrett put Noble into the area. He went for a first time shot but it lacked power and direction and Sullivan gathered comfortably.

Despite all of the early pressure belonging to Carlisle it was the Addicks who almost grabbed the lead when Hollands found the ball at his feet from a teasing free kick delivery. Collin reacted instinctively to spread himself and he made a close range block to deny what looked a certain goal.

The game tightened up with both sides battling for possession, and it was another set piece which brought the last chance of the half, but Cort couldn't keep his header down as he rose highest to meet an inswinging corner delivery.

Half Time: Addicks 0 - 0 United

Matt Robson brought another excellent save out of Sullivan within seconds of the restart when he surged forward from his own half. His shot needed a firm hand from the full stretch stopper.

There was immediate action at the other end when Pritchard twisted and turned and Collin did well to get a fingertip touch to send the rasping drive over the bar.

And Collin was the hero once more as Charlton stayed forward in numbers. Scott Wagstaff controlled a difficult ball over the top and his touch took him clear, but the Carlisle keeper raced off his line to make a magnificent block.

Danny Green had two efforts from distance as he tried to break the deadlock, the second of which was an audacious lob from 40 yards which had Collin backpedalling just to make sure.

Charlton tails were up and they took the lead when Morrison headed a corner past Collin. It was cleared off the line but the big defender followed up to sweep the ball into the empty net with United able to do nothing about it.

United had a spell of pressure which almost yielded an equaliser midway through the half, and Zoko was unlucky to see his header from a Berrett corner cleared off the line by the vigilant Rhoys Wiggins. Berrett then lobbed the ball back into the danger area but Sullivan recovered to tip it over the bar.

Paddy Madden put a header over the bar with his first touch of the game and Wright-Phillips came off the bench to almost do the same when he tried to poke it past Collin. He kept his side in touch with a save off an outstretched leg.

But the result was put beyond doubt on 90 minutes when Jason Euell ghosted into the area unmarked to scuff a volley into the bottom corner to book his side's progression into the third round draw.
