Ben Marshall came into the starting line up to make his first start at Brunton Park as Kevan Hurst was rested to assist with his recovery from a twinge in the right knee picked up during the Colchester game.

Paul Thirlwell got his recall as Tom Taiwo served out the first of his two-match suspension following his red card against the U's, and Gary Madine went back onto the bench on his return from Chesterfield.

Richard Keogh tried to provide the spark during the tight opening exchanges with a direct run down the right flank. He crossed from the edge of the box but it was just in front of Price and it skipped harmlessly behind.

A good corner delivery from Graham Kavanagh on 10 minutes found Price at the near post but his header, although firm, was always heading wide.

The Glovers pounced on a misplaced header from Livesey on 12 minutes and Bowditch was sent clear as United tried to recover. He carried it into the area and it took a parried save from Collin to prevent the visitors from taking the lead.

A quality crossfield pass from Harte on 14 minutes sent Marshall on the run, and his cross was flicked on at the near post by Kavanagh. Price tried to make it his but Caulker stood strong and scrambled it clear.

Paul Thirlwell dragged a bobbling shot wide on 22 minutes when a throw into the box was scuffed into his path, and Robson then whipped a curling cross towards the penalty spot but it was dealt with again as Price ran in.

Marshall found space on the right flank mid-way through the half and his cross again found Price making a run. He rose to meet it but he got too much on the header and it flew away from the target.

A fantastic free kick delivery from Kavanagh caused all kinds of problems as Ian Harte tried to make it his 10 yards out but he was bundled over as he made a connection and it ricocheted away to safety.

Kavanagh was inches away from scoring with a thunderbolt of a volley moments later but it missed the net by a matter of inches as it rasped off his right boot.

Half Time: United 0 - 0 Glovers

Marc Bridge-Wilkinson replaced Ben Marshall at the start of the second half, and it was United who went close to breaking the deadlock again on 47 minutes when the ball broke for Kavanagh on the edge of the box. He volleyed it early and it needed a fingertip from McCarthy to divert it over the bar.

A stagnant second half sprung into life on 66 minutes when a Bridge-Wilkinson corner was punched out of the box and towards Clayton. He took a touch and set himself before rifling an unstoppable volley into the roof of the net.

Both sides continued to find it hard to find space, with very little in the way of chances on goal, but Sam Williams spun on the ball and created a shot from nothing on 83 minutes. Collin was well placed to gather that one up.

Charlie MacDonald put his shot wide moments later as Yeovil played the ball through midfield but it was a tight angle and he couldn't squeeze it in.

Peter Murphy had to get a glancing header to a cross from the right as United sat deep, and the delivery from that was nodded wide as MacDonald found a yard of space.

The Cumbrians kept possession well to help to tick the clock down and they made it 6 points in 4 days with a hard earned win.
