IT'S WHAT I'M HERE FOR
United winger Kevan Hurst was one of the top performers against Tranmere Rovers at the weekend, setting up the second goal for Danny Livesey with a right-wing cross. He gave us his reaction to the Blues first home league win of the season after the game.
He said: "We're all glad to get that first league win at Brunton Park this season on the board.
"It's always nice to win in front of your home fans and it gives everyone confidence, and we did it in good style with a 3-0 win. Of course they had a man sent-off but we still had to win the game and we did that well.
"We've been creating a lot of chances in games and we did that again this afternoon. Dobes and Joe have been working hard and getting themselves into good positions but sometimes you need a bit of luck.
"I think either myself or Matty, depending on who's putting the cross in, and maybe the rest of the midfield need to get in there to get on the end of some of those chances and take a bit of pressure off the forwards. But as long as we're winning games in a comfortable fashion then that's what really matters.
"It was nice for Danny to get his first goal of the season and nice for me to get the assist for it. That's what I've come here to do really, get balls into the box and chip in with some assists and maybe a few goals as well.
"I don't think the red card made that much of a difference as we were already on top. Ever since I've come here we've been playing really well as a team and dominating games. That can be frustrating, when you're on top during games but not managing to find that goal and pick up the three points you deserve, but today I think we'd have won even if their lad hadn't been sent-off.
"I enjoy taking the set-pieces. We've got a lot of height in the team with Danny and Scott and also players like Murph and Hartey who like to attack the ball. It's up to me and Matty to get the ball in the box and we're doing well at the moment, so hopefully that will continue.
"It is a bit frustrating that we've got that win now and we don't have a midweek game to try and build some form up. But at the same time it'll be good to have a break and get ourselves fresh for Brighton. But it's all positive after today and hopefully we can look forward and take it in our stride."
