WE CAN'T START AS SLOPPY
United manager Greg Abbott spoke to us after the 3-3 draw at the Coral Windows Stadium.
He said: "It was a poor start from us and that makes life very difficult.
"The positive was the way we reacted and the way we turned it around in the first half, but we don't want to be doing that to ourselves too often.
"The tempo has to be better from the moment we kick off, because good teams will hurt you if you aren't on your game. Bradford are a decent team and they have some very good players, and we don't want to be in a position where we are giving teams like that a head start.
"We actually played some good stuff when we had the ball, and our strikers got a goal each, so that has to be a positive. The role that Graham Kavanagh played was one that we had talked about, because he is a really good footballer. We want to get him on the ball much more, because he can see a pass or a shot, and that's difficult for other sides to deal with.
"I'm very pleased with what Tom Taiwo has brought to the squad. There is a real competition for places in that area, and he is the kind of player who will do the hard work, but he can also put his foot on the ball as well. He has plenty of energy and we think that he is a player that we can really develop.
"Obviously we are disappointed with the goals that we conceded, but we will talk about that and continue to work on the things that we think we need to improve on.
"Overall we are pleased with where we are, but we know that we have to take the game to Brentford next week. They will come to Carlisle feeling very confident, and we will have to be ready for that.
"The squad is almost there in terms of players. We are looking for that striker, as everyone knows, and we will continue to try to make sure that happens before the season kicks off. Karl Hawley was a player that we had on our radar, but his situation is not clear at the moment. It could be that he is going elsewhere, we just don't know, so we will continue to do our work as we try to find a player that will add competition in those forward areas."
"We're all looking forward to next Saturday now. We have seen different permutations and we have looked at all of the players, so it is now down to me to pick the side that will go out and do the job against Brentford."
