We spoke to the captain after the game last night, to get his thoughts on yet another win.
He told us: "It was a difficult game, but it was always going to be. They are only down there because of their off the field problems, not because of how they are playing. We knew we had to stick in, and we played really well in the first half. I don't think we played as well after the break, but sometimes it goes like that. It's all about getting a result at this stage of the season, though, so we're happy."
"The weather had a big part to play," he admitted. "The wind was against us in the first half, then blowing across the pitch in the second, so it seemed to be against us all the time. They got some benefit from it right through the 90 minutes, but we dug in and coped with it. Like I say, they are a good team and they are desperate for points. Sometimes you find that the hardest games are against the teams that really need the points."
"It's great for the team that goals are coming from everywhere," he explained. "We've all got to dig in, and we need people to take their chances when they get them. We're sharing the goals well at the moment, and it was good to see that even Murph can still manage to chip in!"
"One big downside for us was what happened to Jeff," he said. "His ankle has swollen badly, but we're hoping that he'll be back sooner rather than later. I hope it's just an impact injury, but we'll have to see."
"We can look forward to Saturday now, to see if we can keep this run going," he added. "We're happy that the games are going to keep coming, because there is a lot of confidence around the place, and we are glad that we're scrapping at the right end of the table. We're not even concentrating that much on what other teams are doing, as all that we can concentrate on is our own set of results. I've said all along that we are having a good time. It's exciting at the club, and it's up to us to keep it going, to see where we can end up."
"I must admit," he concluded, "I was very disappointed to hear the reaction from a small section of the crowd when one of our players was substituted. I don't understand how you can do that to a player when he is coming off the field. He had done a great job for the team, especially in the first half when we had asked him to tuck in tight and help out with the defensive side of things. He did that, and then there was that reaction. The majority of our fans are brilliant, but there is a very small number who do this, and at the very time when everyone needs to be sticking together, players and supporters alike. It's disappointing to hear and it's something I can't understand. Everyone is working so hard to get the results, and I know that the fans are as well, so we could do without things like that."
