Manager John Ward spoke to us about the record breaking victory over Huddersfield Town last night:
"We achieved a club record, and it's a wonderful effort. This club has got a wonderful history, and some top teams and excellent players have played on this Park for us. For us to take a record like this is a fantastic effort from our team. It's something special. It's nice to have the three points, and that is important, but when you actually sit back and reflect that we've done something that no-one else has managed to do ... like I say, it's a fantastic effort. For my part, I'm pleased to be involved with it, and absolutely delighted that the players have done it for us.
Huddersfield are a good side, they've come here on the back of four games without conceding a goal and they have some good experience in the team. People like Booth and Jevons at the top end up there, and people like Page at the back, they are a good players and it's taken a good effort to beat them.
I was disappointed in a way that we didn't get a second goal before we did. We had a lot of forward play ,and I wouldn't say we dominated it all, but we got forward and got in to good positions, but it just wouldn't come. I knew there was always a threat from Huddersfield, and you know that if you give them too much room they could find a goal, and in the end that was what they did. Fortunately we got the second one in the second half and that gave us a cushion, although it was a bit edgy in the last five minutes, I have to say.
I'm pleased with Cleveland Taylor, he did well. We wondered if we should have put him in the Reserves last week, but we didn't, and I think we just about got it right. He gave us a full 90 minutes and he was still strong at the end, which was good news. He's only going to get better from being involved, and I think there was enough sightings of him tonight for people to start thinking that we've got ourselves a good young footballer.
Chris Lumsdon had a good game, and he'll have mixed feelings about the match tonight. He did very well, deserved his Man of the Match award, but now I can't pick him on Saturday. I'm sure he'll want the team to win, but he'll want to get his place back. However, that's why we've got the squad. We've got people like Paul Thirlwell, Luke Joyce and Grant Smith who can fill that gap, and I've just got to look at the Reserve game at Morecambe and see who stands out as the right one to go with.
It's a busy period for us this, but that's good in it's own way. It means that everyone will get some football. The Reserve game gets our squad players involved, then we have the Youth Cup on Thursday, against Aston Villa. I actually feel that they are the best Youth team in the country, and definitely the best team left in the competition, so we have our work cut out. Mind you, we've done brilliantly to get to this stage, and I hope a lot of people will come and support the boys as they try to progress even further."
