We caught up with the United Boss after the game on Friday to get some reaction to his return to Whaddon Road:
"It's frustrating, I'll agree with that comment, because we have had plenty of possession, and we have been in or around the final third on a lot of occasions tonight. What we haven't done is found the right cross, and we haven't been as clinical with our finishing as we could have been. Cheltenham have defended really strongly at times, we have to give them credit for that, and they hit us on the break with a good goal. The ball has fallen for Gillespie, and he's hit the target, and that turned out to be the difference on the night.
You can talk about our away form, but we've come here and played well tonight, and we're going away with nothing to show for it, which is never easy to take. Cheltenham know that they have had to play well themselves to beat us, because we have been on top for long periods of the game. I've just told the players that if they keep that desire and keep playing like that then the chances will start to go in for them. We've done enough here to have taken the three points, we all know that, and we also know that if we play like that on Tuesday against Oldham then we'll be in with a real chance of taking something from them. We are working hard to improve on our results away from home but, as I said earlier, we're playing well enough to be picking up more points than we are, so we'll keep going and I'm sure it will come.
Danny Graham is working really hard, he is working his socks off for us. The chances didn't really come for him tonight, but the endeavour is there and he keeps going, which is important. There is quality in this team, we have seen that on a number of occasions, and it is important that all of the players keep working and producing that for us.
I was pleased with Scott Dobie. He is a favourite with our fans, and he wants to be here, and he will only get better as he gets more time on the pitch under his belt. We saw glimpses of how much of a threat he can be, we saw his pace at times, and he'll get stronger and fitter, and then we can really have a look at how we will use him, whether that's beside the other striker or in a different role.
The reception from the home fans was nice, but tonight isn't really about that. Once the whistle went it's about them wanting their team to win and me wanting my team to win, because that's football. I've left a good club to join a good club, and my focus is on the fact that we have a team that can achieve a top six finish. That's where all of my efforts are going now.
I'm still working on the Cleveland Taylor situation, there are still things to talk about there, and we'll keep going on that until the situation is resolved one way or the other. We've had no enquiries at all about any of our players, which is fine by me, and hopefully it will stay that way."
