LET'S GET ON ANOTHER RUN

Posted on: Thu 03 Jan 2008

Marc Bridge-Wilkinson spoke to us today about the 4-2 victory on Tuesday.

"After the last couple of games, that was the ideal result for us," he said. "I suppose it wasn't the ideal start with the way we went 1-0 down, and then having to come back into it, and then of course we went 2-1 down a minute into the second half as well. It shows the character of the lads that we were able to do it, though."

"We've had two poor results, but we've put that right now, and we've shown that we're still fighting and not giving it up," he told us. "I thought Hartlepool were excellent in the first half. They were passing it about quite well and, on top of that, we probably weren't playing anywhere near our best. What is important though is that we've got this habit of winning games when we're not at our best, and I think that is a very good habit to have. We've shown today that even though we're not firing on all cylinders we can still win games. What we managed to do on Tuesday was find an answer every time we needed one. We went a goal down and came back immediately, and that shows a massive amount of character to keep coming back and eventually get the right result."

"I thought we took our chances excellently in the second half," he added. "When they came along we made sure we took them, and perhaps we might have had a couple more. I think Joe clipped the crossbar with a real screamer and the goalkeeper made a good save off one of my shots, which the ref gave a goal kick for. The important thing is that we took the ones that mattered. We had some in the first half, but when it mattered we took them, and 4-2 is an excellent win against a good side."

"I got a knock in the first half," he said. "It was one of those awkward ones where I've gone in for a tackle with one of their lads and his knee has hit mine, and knocked it the wrong way. It was a bit lumpy and sore for a while but I was able to get through the game, so hopefully it'll be fine."

"What we have to do now is try to get on another run," he told us. "We've come through two very difficult games, and to be quite honest about it we didn't do ourselves justice at either Tranmere or Bristol, but we've got the result we wanted from that one and I think that shows were a decent team who want to try and do something in this division."
