STAND UP AND BE COUNTED
After an excellent win over Hartlepool yesterday it was a naturally delighted Zigor Aranalde who stopped to give us his thoughts on the game.
"It was very important to get a win today," he said. "Any win is important, but perhaps even more so when you consider the last two games and the way in which we lost them. When you lose in the way we did, and everything is going against you, then sometimes you have to stand up and be counted."
"I always say that no matter what happens in football you have to pick yourself up and just keep going, just carry on," he added. "If you have that mentality and you have the quality we've got in our team then things will turn round, it'll come back for you. If you lose your head, let your head go down, or if the attitude isn't there, then it becomes very difficult to achieve anything. I think our team has got the right attitude, the right qualities and professionalism to deal with that, and we showed that today."
"Today we conceded twice, but we knew we had to come back," he told us. "We managed to do that and that should give us a lot of confidence going into Saturday and Port Vale. That's another home game as well, so we'll be in front of our own fans, and they always help us."
"I think we came up against a very good side in Hartlepool," he admitted. "They wanted to pass it, they came here to play and obviously they got in front twice, so to come back is very pleasing. In the last twenty minutes we killed the game off very well."
"I thought we took our chances very well when they came along," he concluded. "Even in the Tranmere and Bristol games we made one or two, but we didn't take them. Against Hartlepool we made a lot of chances, but the important thing was we took most of them. We did miss a few in the first half, but you just have to say; 'Well they've gone' and in the second half we managed to put them away. Obviously if you do that, you get your goals, you get your win, and everybody is happy and positive again."
