Another solid display from left back Zigor Aranalde helped United to a sixth clean sheet of the campaign against Gillingham, so we spoke to him about it after the game.

He said: "It was a good win, but any day when you get the three points is good. It certainly wasn't an easy game, but we worked very, very hard and just like last week it was a good test for us. Against Yeovil I didn't think we deserved to lose, so it was nice for us to pass the test this week and get a good three points."

"I suppose you could say that there's never a bad time to score a goal," he added, "but for the first to come so early on was definitely good for us. I wasn't sure who got it, because I didn't have a great view, in fact I thought it might have been Joe, but they tell me it was an own goal. As I say though, there's never a bad time to get them, and fortunately enough we got them at good times, and times which made it very difficult for them to come back."

"You can't dominate the whole 90 minutes," he explained. "The other side will always have a spell of play when they are on top, and it is important that when they are in that spell that you keep it nice and tight, keep them out and defend hard. In the last game at Yeovil they didn't make anything from open play, but we were punished off two set-pieces, but today I thought we defended very well. I think they only really had a couple of chances. They did have a goal disallowed, but I'm not complaining about that because obviously that helped us. In open play they didn't have that many chances though, and that's very important for us."

"There was a deflection on Simon's shot," he admitted, "but if you don't shoot then you'll never score. Simon works very hard in games and is very confident, and he had the chance to shoot today and took it. I would say the defender got a little bit of a deflection, but I think it was going in anyway, so it was his goal. That really killed Gillingham off, and I don't think they we're going to get back in to the game after that. I don't think they made many chances after the second goal, and I think they went a little bit flat because it's not an easy thing to come back once you're 2-0 down away from home."

"Next week we've got Southend away, and that will be very tough," he said. "They we're relegated from the Championship last season, and we know that it's going to be hard for us, but we think we can get a good result. After we've played Southend we can think about the next one. It doesn't matter if that's Leeds or Forest or whoever, it's just one more game for us to deal with."
