SWARMING ALL OVER THEM
Assistant Manager Dennis Booth spoke to us in the Press Box after the Bristol Rovers game.
He said: "I thought it was a very good game of football. Again we played some excellent stuff, but again we didn't get the goals our play deserved. That's something we're working on. We needed to get something out of the game after the last two. I thought we deserved to win the match, but you don't always get what you deserve in football, and we nearly lost it from a little bit of sloppy play from us at times. It nearly cost us dearly ... it didn't, and we got a point out of the game. We're still sixth, so that's also good. We wanted to win it, but it's gone now, and we'll get through next week and work on getting a result at Bournemouth."
"Joe Anyinsah came on and he found the pace of the game very fast," he told us. "He's only been playing in the Reserves, but I know Joe from Preston and I know what he can offer. He'll be a threat. He needs to get fitter now, but that's not a problem. It is difficult to step up from Reserve team football and then come on and play twenty minutes like that, but he gave us glimpses of what he's capable of, and he'll be a good acquisition, I'm sure of that."
"I thought in the second half that Bristol looked a bit tired, which could have been down to their journey," he added. "We were swarming all over them, but they have some very capable players and they're a decent side. It was a bit end to end as it went on, and we were trying everything to get that second goal, but it's so important that you don't concede yourself, which we nearly did. We've talked about that, so when that occurs again we'll deal with it a bit better."
"We've made a couple of changes, and David Raven has switched back to right back and looked very composed," he explained. "Arnie has been very unfortunate to be left out, but that's what football is about. You make decisions and you stick to them. We brought Murph back and pushed Raven to right back, and I thought we defended very well, apart from the goal, which was a set play. I was disappointed in that, from a corner. We got mugged on that, but apart from that I thought we did ok."
"I also thought that we showed some character today," he said. "After two defeats, people were a bit anxious today. The crowd was a bit anxious, but we kept digging in and we still played our football. In the end we got something out of it, which we thoroughly deserved."
