We caught up with the Boss in the press box after the game:
"We played well there, but especially in first half. I thought the players were terrific. They fought and fought, and we played that well that we forced Huddersfield to change their system to accommodate us, which is a massive compliment on their home ground, and I thought we caused them all sorts of problems.
They couldn't get near us and they couldn't get the ball. We created the chances and deservedly got the goal, and from then it was a matter of consolidating on that and building if we got the opportunity, which we did with Joe's goal. Then they had to force the game to a certain extent, and we were more than comfortable with what they had to throw at us.
It was a real team performance today, and that's exactly what I'm after. I build my teams on team spirit, camaraderie and honesty, and we've been getting that from them. The new players that have come in have adjusted fantastically well, and we're still looking for more quality and to improve performances as a team. Hopefully that will come. There will be a bit of confidence taken from that result today, but there are still things I want us to work on. I'm sure things will really click soon, but we're certainly on the right lines, and that's all I can ask for at the moment.
In hindsight, the second goal really killed them off, but at 35 minutes it doesn't really feel that way. It certainly gave us a bit of a cushion, a bit of breathing space, and whatever they threw at us we coped with it not too badly.
Defensively, again, we've been superb. When you are missing your centre half, who is the most experienced player in that area of the field, and to then see the way we coped ... it was admirable and a testament to the players attitude and determination not to concede goals. Solid defensive performances give you the platform to go on and win the game, and the lads are giving us that at the moment.
They changed their system twice in the second half and I decided that we needed to match them up. That's why I made the changes when I did. I know Danny was bitterly disappointed, and I want to see that passion from my players, I really do. I have to make those decisions, though, and I wanted to protect our back four. They brought Booth on, and I needed a midfielder in there to help to pick up the bits and pieces. To be fair, I think we did that, and they never really had a clear sight on goal. They certainly never passed the ball round us to get free. We knew they might be a bit more direct when Booth came on, but we coped with that, and we coped with the little diamond that they played. By adjusting what we were doing we closed that down, and we made sure we stamped them out.
The Coventry game will be a good one because we go in to it with confidence. We're playing well and we want to win to every game, so we're all looking forward to it."
