GOOD TO BE BACK
We caught up with the newly appointed Temporary Assistant Manager Dennis Booth to get his reaction on his pending return to Brunton Park.
He told us: "It's come as a lovely surprise, hasn't it, but football tends to throw up surprises all the time. It's another twist for me personally, and it's only about four years ago that a similar thing happened to me with Paul (Simpson) and I ended up joining the club. That one came out of the blue as well. I'm absolutely delighted, though, I really am. I'm a football person, and it's all I've done since I was a boy of 15 years old, so it's great to be involved again. I was happy to be taken on board with the scouting, because it was nice to be able to help the club in any way that I could. It really is going to be great to be back in action, and especially with knowing so many of the lads at the club anwyay. I'm looking forward to it and hopefully we can make it a successful run for everyone."
"It's going to be just like coming home in some ways," he admitted. "I had some great times with Carlisle United, I really did, even though it was hard for us in the beginning with the relegation. When you have periods like the two years of success that we had then it makes the whole thing really special. We went through quite a lot, with the floods and with a poor run of results in the Conference, and they are hard times to get through for the playing staff, for the directors and for the fans, so it becomes that much more enjoyable when you finally turn it in to success. That last season, when we won the title, was incredible and it's something I'll never forget. I'm glad I was a part of it and hopefully now I can help to bring a bit more success."
"Working with Greg is going to be superb," he said. "The club did fabulous last year and were unlucky to miss out on the Play Offs. At one time it really looked as if they would do it, but they can still be pleased with what they did. I was watching the results all the way, and it was a close thing in the end. I missed the game on Saturday but, by all accounts, they started off very well. I spoke to people after the game and they had nothing but praise for the way the football was played by Carlisle. The team is in very good hands with Greg at the moment, and I'm sure he'll be looking to try and progress things whilst he is in charge. If I can play any part at all in helping him with that then I will be only too pleased to do it."
"First time round the fans and the staff really took to me for some reason," he added. "Myself and my wife were made to feel really welcome and we're looking forward to coming back to that kind of atmosphere. I'll be in on Thursday morning, so I'll miss the game tonight because I'm actually watching a team for Greg. As I say, I'm just really looking forward to getting back there."
