GIVE IT MY BEST

Posted on: Sun 24 Jun 2007

graham3It's been a far from desperate couple of weeks for Danny Graham. Having found the net five times in his last four games the on-loan 21-year-old Middlesbrough man has been on quite a streak, so we caught up with him to get his thoughts on his recent run.

He told us: "It's nice to keep on scoring. It's five in four games, which is great. I know a couple have been penalties, but they all count, and as long as it keeps helping the team to the right results then I'm happy. In the last couple of games I've scored quite early on as well, which is great because it sets the game up for us and, of course, it gives the lads that boost of confidence so we can go and finish teams off."

With Graham's goals firing the lads up the table United fans everywhere have begun to cast a nervous eye towards the end of his loan spell. "I've got Rotherham on Saturday, Bristol City at home, and then my loans up," he said with a groan. "It's a bit of a bummer really because I've settled nicely in to a routine and obviously I'm playing and scoring - that said I've just got to give it my best for these last two games and see how we go from there."

"I suppose in a funny way it's been be a bit frustrating really," he added. "I came in, had a couple of games, got a goal and then got injured, so I was back at Middlesbrough for two weeks. Since then I've got back in to the groove, been playing games and scoring goals, so it's been superb. The main thing, though, is that the team has won the last four, so now we just want to see how far we can go."

"Like I say," he told us, "I'd just like to get the right results against Rotherham and Bristol. Hopefully if we do that it'll leave the lads in a good position, and they can push on from there and get in to the play-offs. I think over the last few weeks our results have given us a good chance of doing it, the main aim now is to get in and see what happens."

It'll be hard watching for the last few games - especially as I feel I've contributed now," he admitted, "but if they can get to the play-offs then I'll be cheering the boys on from wherever I am. Whether that be watching the telly or at the games, you can bet that I'll be shouting them on and hopefully they can do well."

With his Middlesbrough contract up in the summer Danny has certainly been going about impressing the manager in the right way, but insists no decision has yet been taken on his future: "We haven't done anything about it yet. I'm sure we'll sit down and have a chat about it at some point, but for now we're just concentrating on trying to win games."
