The first injury update of the 2009/10 season comes from the Five Lakes Hotel training camp near Colchester.
Danny Livesey is back in full training and has been doing all of the pre-season sessions with the lads. He has still got to be a little bit careful and he has to keep on top of any symptoms that may develop, as the patella tendonitis that he had took a while to completely go away. Danny himself is reporting that the knee feels really good and, all being well, he should take some part in the pre-season games that we have left to play.
Marc Bridge-Wilkinson is also back in full training following his toe operation towards the end of last season. There has been no reaction whatsoever so it is now just a case of him building his fitness levels back up. We were all pleased with the 45 minutes that he played at Workington and we intend to continue to increase his match practice and notch those fitness levels up. He is still naturally a little tentative in the tackle but that will improve with the more games that he plays.
Josh Gowling took a knock to the ankle during the Workington game. There has been some bruising and swelling but we have been able to control it to allow him to continue to train as normal. Obviously we have to keep an eye on it, as we don't want to make the matter worse, but he is another that should play a part in the remaining pre-season friendlies with no problems.
Graham Kavanagh had to have a week away with a virus that meant he was unable to train. He rejoined the squad today at the training camp at Colchester and, in typical Kav style, wanted to be back and in amongst it as soon as he arrived. He has been disappointed that he had to stay away, as he was looking and feeling really sharp, but he has kept on top of his fitness and it is expected that he will very quickly be back up to speed.
