END OF SEASON INJURY NEWS

Posted on: Fri 08 May 2009

Bringing a close to the injury update reports for the season, we take a peek through the treatment room door to see who will have some rehabilitation work to be cracking on with through the summer months.

Chris Howarth has begun his rehabilitation programme and is also doing some hydrotherapy work at a hospital in Bolton. He goes back to see the surgeon on 18 May but, as it stands, he has already been told that he is on course for a return to full fitness by the time the pre-season training schedule kicks in.

Marc Bridge-Wilkinson is steadily increasing his workload. It is expected that we will get the all-clear from his surgeon in three weeks time and he will be ready and raring to go for July.

Danny Livesey was with his surgeon last week and was sent for another ultrasound scan. The results for that came through last Wednesday and it was discovered that there had been a big improvement in the tendon. There is now only a slight area of residual disease left to deal with, and that was dry-needled in an attempt to eradicate it once and for all. That will be left to settle for a fortnight and he will then be able to build his programme up again. Unfortunately there is a summer of hard work ahead so that the player can give himself the best possible chance of being ready for pre-season.

Regular injury updates will return in July. We will, of course, keep you abreast of developments on the injury front should any other issues arise.
