WEEKLY INJURY UPDATE
More from Dolly as things start to get busy:
It's been a busy week, but that's always to be expected when you have a run of games.
Danny Graham is fine. He's a bit stiff and sore today, which is to be expected, but there are no lasting problems from his knock.
Simon Hackney got through the game and, again, he will be a bit stiff and sore, but will be fine for the weekend.
Chris Lumsdon had to come in and get an injection half way through the warm up before the Forest game. He dislocated it on Saturday, in the game against Gillingham, and I had to put it back in to place out on the pitch. He's a bit bruised and sore. He had the pain killing injection and got through the game ok. We will limit his training over the next few days, but he'll be fine for the weekend.
Jeff Smith is doing well. We are doing some easy exercises and some light CV work in the gym. He's not doing too much at present, but we'll up that this week so that he starts working towards some functional and strengthening work around the ankle joint.Joe Garner is doing really well. Over the course of the next week or two he will carry on with his range of movement exercises, to get the flexibility back in to his knee. We are still working on getting the swelling down, but that's normal for this type of injury. He's spending more time at Blackburn than at Carlisle, due to the practicality of travelling. He can't do too much, and his partner is due in the next couple of weeks, so it's better for him to work down there. Everything is going to plan with him, so we're happy.
Paul Thirlwell is running now, and he has also started some ball work. He'll spend this next week building up on that, and we'll take it from there. If that goes to plan, then we may be able to get him in to training with the lads.
Shaun Vipond is still in his brace, so it's pretty boring for him at the moment. He will progress slowly over the next few weeks.
Matthew Wood received a nasty knock on the top of his foot / ankle. It's quite swollen, so all we are doing is getting that down. Hopefully he will fully recover within a week or so, but we'll have to wait and see.
Matthew Brown got a kick on the side of his knee. This has irritated a nerve that runs round the head of the fibula. He's got a little bit of numbness around there, but I'm sure the feeling will start coming back to his leg and he'll be able to do some functional work fairly quickly. He is likely to miss a week or so as well.
That's all for now,
Keep well,
Dolly
