WHAT'S BUGGING YOU?
Club Physio Dolly pulls back the dressings and lets us see what's going on inside his treatment room:
Peter Murphy got a bit of a dead leg in the game at Rotherham, and he also suffered from a bout of sickness as well. I'm glad to say he's recovered from both of those, and he's starting to get some food down. He'll be back in full training tomorrow.
Kev Gray had a bit of a knock on his ankle, and a bit of a tight hip muscle, and he also had a bout of the same bug that Murph has had. He's recovered well, bugs like that don't seem to bother Kev too much, and he will be back in training tomorrow.
Joe Garner also had the bug but, again, he's recovering - and fortunately no-one else seems to have caught it.
Simon Hackney has gone down to Lilleshall this week for some rehab. They will also be doing some tests while he's there, where they will evaluate his quad strength. It will be a good week for him to get some rehab under his belt and he should come back not too far away from getting out on to the pitches, and doing some proper work out there with myself.
Karl Hawley has had a good week of running under his belt last week, and we've stepped it up again this week with some ball work. I'm pretty hopeful that he will be back in some form of training with the lads by the end of this week, and then we'll see how that goes and when the Gaffer chooses to put him back in to the squad.
Paul Murray had his op done last Tuesday. They explored the full length of his tendon and didn't find anything too drastic in there. They've padded up the small joint at the bottom, and also freed his peroneal nerve a little bit, which is just at the bottom of the hamstring. They hope that will stop all the problems and the pain he's been having in his hamstring of late. It's a case of him resting up for a good couple of weeks now, as he'll have a four or five inch scar at the back of his leg. He's due to see the surgeon next Tuesday evening, and if he is happy with his progress, and with the way the wound is healing, then we'll start some rehab with him. He's sent me up an eight week programme to do with Muzza, so all in all he should be fine to start pre-season in July, if everything goes well.
Liam Atkin had his MRI scan, which has shown a small tear in his quad muscle. We are treating that now, and he's probably about two to three weeks away from starting some running. He won't get a game this season but, again, he'll be fine to come back to pre-season with no problems at all.
Steve Hindmarch has a bruised big toe. I haven't had the chance to give that the full once over yet. On talking to Eric, Steve struggled to get a boot on, so I don't think he'll be able to kick the ball at all. He'll rest this week, and should be fine to come back in to training next week.
That's all for now,
Keep well,
Dolly
