Stadium manager Dave Mitchell gave us an update this afternoon on the latest state of the pitch:
"We completed the major pitch work last Thursday then put the fertiliser into it on Saturday.
That was made up of a micro-nutrient supply and a pre-seeder fertiliser to give the seed a boost as soon as it germinates. We will put some more slow release fertiliser on, probably on Friday, and then that's that for a couple of weeks. By then it should have had it's first cut with the rotary mowers, and it will just go on as normal from there.
You'll see that there are already some greener bits, and that comes from the areas that were left behind when we took the top surface off. It was only the very top surface that was removed, and that took it down to the crown of the plant. That is now recovering and growing back. Hopefully we should have quite a thick pitch in around six weeks time.
I'm sure that you will have also noticed the Owl that is sitting in pride of place at the Warwick Road End. It's simply there to deter pigeons, but it doesn't seem to be taking the job very seriously so we may have to give it the heave ho.
Mind you, the fox has disappeared, so maybe it has managed to scare at least one thing away!"
