My first visit to Hereford, walking up to the ground and you start to get that familiar "we can win this" feeling. You need that after a long drive and it is reassuring to know that you can still get deluded during a winless streak.

Graham has been back in the goals of late and started with purpose and a reasonable amount of confidence, though this was seemingly as misplaced as his shots - but at least he is having a go and I appreciate that. An early goal would have made so much difference ...

First half was about Carlisle putting pressure on the Hereford defence, without really looking that convincing. Perhaps we have got used to giving the opposition a goal start and Hereford were having none of that, they are (were) bottom for a reason.

Why do we give these teams a leg up?

There was little of note in that first half, we looked better at the back and passed it around nicely at times and Hereford only had a couple of chances. Taylor and Hackney didn't seem to be doing much, Kavanagh looked comfortable and the Graham/Carlton combo was in need of a break.

The interval would need to bring some sort of fiery team talk to stir the team into action. So it was that Hereford were well up for the second half and we had maybe just had a cosy little chat about this and that.

Hereford started the second half strongly and we let them. N'Gotty had a shot from about 30 yards, but Alnwick was equal to it; he was having a good game and seemed comfortable going for crosses etc. He did, however, come out to catch a free kick and was nowhere near it, but the header went over the bar. Generally, though, he was positive.

Then it was the tale of the second half, we didn't challenge Hereford, their players having so many free headers at both ends of the pitch. They had time on the ball and forced a corner around the hour mark. The corner was actually half cleared, but it fell to the unchallenged Williams and he hit it hard and on target. The ball looked to be deflected, the net bulged and our heads dropped.

It was a long time that we didn't look like equalising, during which Keogh was given a straight red for apparently reacting with his elbows.

A couple of lads behind me were trying to get chants going and I do apologise for only joining in once. We had a corner and I felt like cheering the lads on, shame that was the only time in the match, sorry.

Myrie-Williams was having a go. He beat his defender(s) on a number of occasions and the result was either a weak right footed cross or a weak left footed shot - but at least he was having a go and I appreciate that.

Towards the end, we looked to be trying to get a goal back and Myrie-Williams was involved with most of that. One of his shots was close but found only the side netting.

Overall, I think Hereford deserved the win. I'm away on holiday for the Colchester game but around 14:45 I'll probably start to get that "we can win this" feeling.

Carlisle fans are special.
