THE SATURDAY MATCH CLUB

Posted on: Thu 02 Apr 2009

Lee Rooney caught up with United's Football in the Community officer John Halpin before the game against Scunthorpe to talk about the Saturday Matchclub scheme.

Currently running for every Saturday home match, it allows youngsters aged 7 to 10 the opportunity to take part in a number of activities, including five-a-side games, as well as attending the match itself later in the afternoon.

Anyone, regardless of football ability, is welcome as it's all about fun and creating an enjoyable experience on matchdays.

The kids are fully supervised during the activities before the game in the Neil Centre and then in the A Stand for the match itself.

In this interview, Lee talks to Halpy about the matchclub as well as the Bronze Award picked up by the Football in the Community scheme picked up last year.

For more information on the Saturday Matchclub, contact the FITC team on 01228 554 169 or email them on fitc@carlisleunited.co.uk.
