Tranmere scored with their only shot in a first half which saw the Rovers keeper make a string of good saves, and that set the tone for what turned into a difficult afternoon for the home side.
"Overall this was a very poor performance," academy manager Alan Moore said. "We had some good chances in the first half but we were nowhere near where we needed to be after the break."
