United bagged two either side of the break to register a convincing 4-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town on Saturday morning.
Danny Hodgson and Jason Blackburn scored in the first half and Dempsey and Thomson add to it in the second as the young Cumbrians piled on the pressure.
"The most pleasing thing is that the lads maintained the standards they had set for themselves in the Burnley game last week," academy manager Alan Moore said.
"Shrewsbury had a 15 minute spell just before the break where they were on top but, other than that, we completely dominated and we could have scored more goals.
"We keep asking the lads for consistency in performance, individually and as a team, and the signs are there that we are going to get that."
