Striker Steven Rigg spoke to us during the launch of the official Carlisle United Wheelchair fooball team on Wednesday evening."The wheelchair football is something different and it's good to be involved with it," he said. "Hopefully we can put smiles on people's faces and maybe even have a go at it!
"When you see the impact you have it makes coming to appearances like this well worth it. We all enjoy coming along because we know how important it is to give something back to the community.
"This is a particularly good cause and it's great to see facilities like this for people of all abilities who want to be involved in sport. We've been watching them practice and there are some good player out there. It'll be interesting to see how they get on once the fixtures start up in September.
"Like I say, it's brilliant that the club has stepped in to help and I think the players will be very proud that they are going to be representing their local professional football club."
Speaking about pre-season so far, he said: "I did a bit of work over the summer so I haven't found the running too difficult. I had a trial during pre-season last year, and I was pretty nervous, but I feel part of the group now and I know most of the lads.
"The new signings have settled in well so this pre-season has been a lot easier for me. I've always been a good runner but it's all about putting it out on the pitch and being in the team at Mansfield. The football side of things does take some getting back into but last week was good for everyone with the friendlies."
"Everyone has looked sharp in training and it's all going well at the moment," he added. "I've enjoyed the games so far because that helps to build up the sharpness side of the game.

"To get the captain's armband against Penrith was a nice gesture but I wanted to keep it low key. There was a bit of banter flying around with the Penrith lads.
"The lads haven't stopped talking about the headers that hit the bar this week and it would have been nice to get a goal. I probably should have scored a couple but it's all about getting minutes under your belt."

"We've got a couple of days off now to make sure our legs are recovered and we'll then be ready to go for the next couple of weeks. I'm just looking forward to the Mansfield game and hopefully being in the team."
