Miller commits to United
Striker Lee Miller has today signed a one-year contract, with an option to extend for a further 12-months, which keeps him at Brunton Park until at least the summer of 2014.
Miller, 30, initially joined the Cumbrians on a two-year deal in August 2011 and has bagged 24 goals in his 60 appearances in a blue shirt so far.
“We’ve been talking to Lee for a while and it was just a case that we needed to sit down face-to-face to get things finalised,” manager Greg Abbott said.
“That happened this week and, as you can see, things have been resolved really quickly.
“We know what he brings to the side when he’s playing at the top of his game and we also know that he likes being here. He brings a lot to the team and the dressing room and we’re delighted that we have got this sorted.
“He can knuckle down and concentrate on his football now and we’re really looking forward to working with him again this season.”
Lanark-born Miller began his career with Falkirk and scored 27 goals in 61 appearances for the Bairns before joining Bristol City for a fee of £300,000.
A loan spell with SPL side Hearts followed and he also spent time with Dundee United and Aberdeen during his time north of the border. He moved back into England when he joined Middlesbrough on the final day of the transfer window in February 2010.
The Cumbrians swooped quickly to capture his signature when Boro indicated that the player was clear to search for another club and he was handed the team captain’s armband on his return from injury midway through last season.
