Keith Curle on contract talks with Potts and Gillespie
Manager Keith Curle spoke to us today about the ongoing contract talks with Brad Potts and Mark Gillespie.
“We’re hoping to sit down with Brad to find out exactly where he is this week,” he said. “We can’t get his agent to come up but we’ve had good lines of communication.
“Brad is a good communicator as well and he knows what he wants. We’ll show him the contract offer and he’ll then talk to his agent to get what his thoughts and views are.”
“We’ve also entered into negotiations with Mark Gillespie,” he revealed. “We’ve made him an offer and we’ve had a counter-offer back. That will move onto the next stage now.
“He’s well aware, with the situation the football club is in, that we’re offering somebody a contract who has an injury record at the moment. That has meant he hasn’t played the amount of games he would have liked to have had.
“We still see the potential there and his contract will reflect that. We’re trying to incentivise everybody at the club and he will know that his rewards will come if he’s playing games. That’s how it should be, in my opinion.”
