STRIKER SIGNS LOAN DEAL

22 August 2012

Front-man in for a month

Carlisle United have today signed Birmingham City striker Jake Jervis on a one-month loan deal.

Jervis, 20, was initially picked up by Wolves before moving to Shrewsbury Town at the tender age of 12-years old.

He stayed in Shropshire for three years before joining Birmingham City and he worked his way through the youth and reserve sides to make his first team debut for the Blues as a second half substitute in the club's FA Cup fourth round win against Everton at Goodison Park.

He has enjoyed loan spells with Hereford, Notts County and Swindon, where he scored five goals in 14 appearances. He also had a one-month youth loan period with Preston North End earlier this year.

Manager Greg Abbott said: "Jake is one we've know about for a while.

"He's got some good loan spells under his belt already and he is hungry for some first team action. We think he'll add something a little bit different and we're looking forward to working with him."

Jervis will not be eligible to play in Capital One Cup fixtures but has been given permission to feature in our Johnstone's Paint Trophy round one game against Preston North End.
