Jack Stacey to be recalled by parent club Reading
Reading winger Jack Stacey is set to be recalled by his parent club, bringing an end to a successful loan spell with the Cumbrians.
Stacey, 20, teamed up with United on an initial one-month loan deal at the end of March and has bagged two goals in his nine appearances, including a goal of the season contender in his home debut against Bristol Rovers.
Manager Keith Curle said: “First and foremost we thank Jack for his efforts and we also thank Reading for allowing us to help with his progression in the game.
“I think it’s a testament to what he’s been doing with us that he has been recalled to potentially get involved in the last game of the season with his parent club. It shows the value of young players coming out and getting real experience of competitive football.
“He integrated, he showed people what he can do and he will have gained a lot of confidence from having had that time on the pitch. We wish him well as he goes back down to rejoin Reading Football Club.”
Stacey joined the Royals as a youngster and made his way through the youth set-up at the Madejski Stadium.
He penned his first professional contract in December 2013 and went on to play a key part in helping Reading Under-21s claim the inaugural Premier League Cup a year later.
His professional debut was in a 1-0 home win over Ipswich in August 2014 and his first senior start came later that season, in March 2015, in the away game at Watford.
He agreed a contract extension in October 2015 which keeps him with Reading until the summer of 2019.
He has made a total of six appearances for his parent club and had a one-month loan spell with Barnet, making two appearances, in December 2015.
This recall remains subject to the completion of all necessary paperwork.
