BREAKING: Can't beat training with a competitive squad

Keith Curle on a trial period for striker Nathan Tyson

Manager Keith Curle confirmed today that experienced striker Nathan Tyson has joined the club on trial this week, with the forward scoring a second half goal in the friendly against Queen of the South on Monday afternoon.

The former-Nottingham Forest, Derby and Doncaster front man, now 34, scored 21 goals in 80 appearances in his two years at the Keepmoat and is currently a free agent.

Manager Keith Curle said: “What you’ll find is that we’ll continue to invite players in for trial periods even though the transfer window is closed. It benefits the player, in that you can’t beat training with a competitive first team squad, and it also throws up an opportunity for them to get involved in bounce games and to showcase their talents.

“We’re always on the hunt for good players and there are no strings attached to trial periods like this. Nathan enjoyed himself with us on Monday and he took his goal really well. He is welcome to work with us and we are more than happy to have him in the building and to join our sessions.”
