Keith Curle ahead of the Tuesday evening trip to Oldham
Manager Keith Curle spoke to us ahead of the Tuesday night trip to face Oldham in the first of the round-robin fixtures in this season’s Checkatrade Trophy competition.
“This is another game we want to win,” he said. “We need to maintain the momentum we’ve built up and it’s another game where we have an opportunity to play our football against a team from a higher division.
“We want to take a step towards progression in a cup competition. I owe it to our fans to make sure we put on a performance. We’re playing well and I want that to continue. I don’t give shirts away easily and any player picked will have earned the right to be involved.”
“The pleasing thing for us is that we know our fans travel and support the club,” he continued. “I’ve said this before, but you don’t wake up and suddenly decide to follow Carlisle United. Our fans are there because they’re buying in to what the club is trying to do.
“I fully understand the reaction from some to the changes which have been made because of the success the competition has brought to this club. What I will say is that a trip to Wembley starts at Oldham. It’s a competitive fixture and we want to win it, it really is as simple as that.”
