Grouping details finalised for the EFL Trophy
The groupings for this season's EFL Trophy competition have been finalised today with United set to face Blackburn Rovers, Fleetwood Town and Oldham Athletic in Group D of the round-robin opening stage phase.The Cumbrians were put in Northern Section 1 along with Blackburn, Everton, Stoke and Wolves from the Category 1 clubs, with six teams from League 1 and six from League 2 making up the rest of the mix.
The first game of the group stage is to be played week beginning 29 August 2016.
United play Oldham away week commencing 29 August, Blackburn at home week commencing 3 October and Fleetwood at home week commencing 7 November.
