Defibrillator installed at the Neil Sports Centre
Carlisle United Football Club are delighted to confirm that a defibrillator has been installed next to the Neil Sports Centre at Brunton Park.The defibrillator was provided by Cumbria County Council and supported by local charity Tic Toc, who installed the defibrillator on Saturday morning.
Belah Division Councillor Alan Toole said: “The council is committed to making Cumbria a safer place in a variety of ways, and putting defibrillators in our communities is a great example of that work.
"Rapid treatment is critical to the survival chances of anyone suffering a cardiac arrest, so these defibrillators could literally mean the difference between life and death.”
Botcherby Division Councillor Robert Betton said: “I’m passionate about raising money locally that benefits the Botcherby Division and this will benefit local people going forward. I’m delighted there are so many life-saving defibrillators now available in communities across Cumbria and I’d like to thank everyone in the Carlisle United Community Sports Trust and Tic Toc who supported this project for this important cause.”
Community Sports Trust manager John Halpin said: "We'd like to say thank you to the council and Tic Toc for helping us with the installation of the defibrillator. It is something which will hopefully give everyone who takes part in activities in the Neil Centre that extra peace of mind.
"Having said that, it's something we hope we will never have to use but, if needed, it will hopefully help to save lives of our members and anyone in the wider community.
Ticket office manager Tarn Simmons said: "We will be working with our Neil Centre members in the coming weeks and will be looking to organise a training evening so representatives from each team are confident if the defibrillator does need to be used."
