BUSINESS CLUB: London trip a success

Business Club London trip a success

Ahead of the Leyton Orient away game our Carlisle United Business Club went on what became a very successful and enjoyable weekend trip to London.

26 Business Club members and Club sponsors attended, including Liberty Leisurewear, David Allen Accountants, Bendles Solicitors, Unwin Jones Architects, JHHI Developments, Park Gate & Company, Online Systems, Baines Wilson Solicitors and MH Industrial.

The group left Carlisle on the Friday morning on Virgin Trains before staying at the Grange Hotel in St Pauls, where they went for a meal in the Benihana Restaurant.

Saturday brought a tour of the Houses of Parliament, courtesy of Carlisle MP John Stephenson, before the group made the journey across to East London for the Leyton Orient game.

A trip to the theatre to watch 'Kinky Boots' was the Saturday night entertainment before the train home on Sunday afternoon.

Andrew Dunning, Director at Liberty Work and Leisure, said: “The away weekend to London taking in the Leyton Orient game has been the highlight of the Business Club year so far.

"Great mix of people, good food and entertainment, plus three away points! Not only is the Business Club an opportunity for networking with local business people, it provides a social platform for developing friendships.

"Carlisle businesses who are not currently involved are missing out on a great package.”

Steve Balmer, Independent Financial Adviser and Managing Director at David Allen Accountants, said: "My wife and I had another fantastic weekend away with the Business Club in London.

"From the Friday to the Sunday it was a relaxed and fun atmosphere throughout and an opportunity to meet and get to know local business people, although it never feels like you are 'networking' in the traditional way.

"The format really works and as well as having down time to do your own thing, it was great to meet up with the bigger group and experience the Houses of Parliament, Japanese food and the mighty Blues' victory together - oh and the alcohol too!

"Thanks to Katie and Phil for sorting it all out; we will definitely be at the next one!”

Sales and Marketing Director Phil King said: "We have had some brilliant Business Club meetings this year, including a behind the scenes tour of the world class rally facility M-Sport with Managing Director Malcolm Wilson, and this was another great event.

"It was open to Business Club members and club sponsors, and these are businesses and individuals who support us in a number of ways - something that is vital in bringing additional money into the club.

"The Business Club was set up to allow businesses to come together in a unique networking environment, pairing the opportunity to do business with each other with the attraction of high quality events and exclusive speakers.

"It's something that has continued to improve over the last four years and we are always keen to attract new members.

"There is still opportunity for businesses to get involved this season and we have a number of events coming up over the next few months, and we are already taking renewals and registrations for next season."
